Sangkury: A Spooky Display Font for Horror-Themed Projects

As a brand designer, I recently had the opportunity to test Sangkury, a unique display font with a distinctly spooky feel. This font is perfect for any project that requires a horror-themed touch, and I was eager to see how it would perform in a realistic branding project.

Sangkury for Halloween Craftings and Creative Projects

Starting with a blank brand board, I decided to use Sangkury for a local boutique specializing in handmade, gothic-style jewelry. The first thing that struck me about Sangkury is its strong, almost otherworldly presence. The sharp, angular lines and slightly uneven strokes give it an eerie, hand-drawn quality that perfectly complements the boutique's aesthetic.

When I used Sangkury for the logo concept, it immediately set the tone for the entire brand. The font's spookiness added a unique and memorable element, making the logo stand out. I also tested it on a packaging mockup, and the result was equally impressive. The font's bold, dramatic style made the product labels look both intriguing and professional.

Sangkury in Movie Posters and Flyer Designs

Next, I moved on to designing a movie poster and a flyer for a local horror film festival. Here, Sangkury truly shone. The font's ability to capture the essence of a horror theme was evident. It added a sense of tension and excitement, making the visuals more engaging and impactful. The readability of Sangkury in larger sizes was excellent, and it worked well as a headline font, drawing the viewer's attention instantly.

For the flyer, I combined Sangkury with a clean, sans serif font for the body text. This pairing created a nice balance, with Sangkury providing the visual punch and the sans serif maintaining clarity and legibility. The combination made the flyer both visually appealing and easy to read, which is crucial for event promotion.

Sangkury for Social Media Graphics and Website Headers

In the digital realm, Sangkury proved to be a versatile and effective font. I used it for social media graphics, specifically for Instagram posts and story highlights. The font's distinct, edgy style made the posts more eye-catching and aligned well with the brand's gothic theme. For the website header, Sangkury served as a powerful statement, setting the tone for the entire site and creating a strong first impression.

However, I noticed that Sangkury might not be the best choice for long-form content or small text sizes. Its intricate details and decorative elements can make it less readable in smaller sizes, so it's best used for headlines, short phrases, and accent text. For longer body text, I recommend pairing it with a more legible, simpler font.

Practical Tips for Using Sangkury in Branding

Before using Sangkury in any final client work, it's essential to test it thoroughly. Experiment with different color schemes, backgrounds, and font sizes to ensure it works well in various contexts. Additionally, consider the overall brand identity and the message you want to convey. Sangkury is ideal for projects that require a dark, mysterious, or horror-themed feel, but it may not be suitable for more formal or corporate settings.

When it comes to font pairing, Sangkury works well with a clean, modern sans serif or a classic serif font. This combination helps maintain a balance between the font's decorative nature and the need for clear, readable text. Also, check the included styles, alternates, and ligatures to add variety and customization to your designs.

Lastly, always review the commercial font licensing before using Sangkury in any client work, especially for brand identity, packaging, templates, merchandise, websites, digital products, or print-on-demand products. This ensures you are using the font legally and ethically.

In conclusion, Sangkury is a standout display font that brings a unique, spooky feel to any design project. Whether you're working on a horror-themed movie poster, a Halloween craft, or a gothic-style brand identity, Sangkury is a fantastic choice that adds character and impact to your designs.
